The Wanted
If you didn't already know, this, is The Wanted. They are a boyband from the UK and they have conquered the US and a lot of the rest of the world and they've 'only just begun'. However with a third album and rumours of them moving to america, it might just kick off.
The wanted started in 2009 when talent hunter Jayne Collins ran auditions for a new boyband and the following year, their debut single 'All time low' hit the #1 spot on the UK charts and their first album was released october 2010.
Their second album, Battleground, was released november 2011 and included the charity track 'Gold Forever' which was made in aid of Comic Relief. The album also included the #1 hit Glad you came which soon became a worldwide hit, being played everywhere from the clubs in Ibiza to parts of Malaysia and Australia, it really was a worldwide hit and probably their most known song.
Their third album is due to be released in 2013, however by looking at the supposed tracklist, I am slightly disappointed, in my opinion there are too many collaborations with people who don't 'fit' with the wanted's music/personalities eg Chris Brown, Dappy and Pitbull. I'm not scorning their third album before the release, it's just that I think they're moving in a very different direction from where they started, for example personal soldier was written about how they would be there for that one person no matter what, and in their second album they wrote 'I'll be your strength' for the fans to tell them to keep strong and fighting, but in the third album there doesn't seem to be anything of the sort, the theme sort of feels like it's based around sex. I'm slightly jumping to conclusions but with song titles such as 'have some fun' and 'lady lady', there doesn't seem to be much else of a theme.
Now the TwFanmily will probably crucify me for that last bit but that's just my opinion on what I think the third album is going to be like, without a doubt I'd love to go see the wanted perform live again even if I don't particularly like the third album, but the whole atmosphere and experience at the wanted's gigs feels amazing and the crowd cling onto their every syllable and the little theme's that the shows are set around just makes it even better.
I do feel however, that the boys are spending too much time in America. Yes it was their dream to crack america but that's done now and there's rumours of them moving over and the loyal fans are not happy. Some of the UK fans have never got the chance to meet or see the wanted because they've not come to areas near them however there's rumours of them moving thousands of miles away. Yes, obviously they'd come back to do tours and all that jazz, but it wouldn't be the same as having them living here (I sound like a selfish kid who wants to keep their toys to themselves but I have 'grown up with them' in a sense so I do feel very over protective over them sometimes/a lot).
I'll probably be adding more to this when I hear more of the third album songs but for now this is my current opinion, the lads are still hilarious with all their tweets, photos and banter between them and the 1D boys but the wanted and 1D are compared to each other too much, and people start to forget that the wanted made their own way into the music industry instead of going onto a talent show and having it 'handed to them' as it were.
Sorry if you took any offence to this but that's just my opinion.
(thanks for reading if read it all, or tried but skipped to the bottom, it's still appreciated ☺)
